Joyce graduated with a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Sociology (Honours) from the National University of Singapore in 2012, with a special interest in criminal and family issues. Upon graduation, she joined the Central Narcotics Bureau of Singapore where she worked various drug trafficking cases, as well as analysed the drug trends and situations in Singapore and in the region.
Joyce went on to pursue a Juris Doctor in Law (Honours) from the Singapore University of Social Sciences in 2018 and sat for Part B of the Singapore Bar Examinations in 2023. She later trained at a local law firm dealing in a range of criminal, family and civil matters in 2024, and was subsequently admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2025.
